My name is Fred. I'm the director of Defined Variables.

I've been messing about with computers since 1995. When I was a teenager I ran an internet café and computer shop with my brother. As a young adult I self-taught 2D CAD design and spent almost 9 years working as a draftsman for an electrical contractors drawing the power and lighting layouts for large industrial and commercial projects. In 2014 I joined a fintech start up with ~100 employees spread among 2 locations as an IT guy. I started leading the internal IT function shortly after joining and went on to scale our internal IT environments to support 3500+ employees across 20+ locations across the globe. After taking a break I've gone back into the field as an IT engineer in a small digital agency.

As a result I have rare and extensive experience all the way from front line support, to senior leadership for multidisciplinary and specialised IT teams. I can help you with support, system administration, service management, identity and access management, compliance, IT policies, contract negotiation, building high performing teams and more.

It's important to me that we provide a great quality service, and that in some small way my contribution here is a small net positive in the world - or at the very least not making it worse!
